Submitted by Pauline Staves – Deadline to sign up by: 19 April 2008

Hello everyone,

Please could you sign my petition to parliament by using the link below, if you agree with the content. If you could also forward the link to as many people as possible it would be greatly appreciated.

I feel the law needs to be changed to help the falsely accused and wrongfully convicted who have committed no crimes but are serving indefinite sentences nonetheless. At least 200 signatures are required for the government to take notice of my petition. There are 184 signatures to date but the more the better. Since the introduction of the indeterminate sentence for public protection in 2005 it's possible for a person to be detained for up to 99 years if they do not address their offending behaviour. What hope then if you are an innocent person wrongly convicted!? How can anyone be expected to feel remorse and guilt for crimes that never happened? This outrageous sentence must be scrapped as it is adding to the already overcrowded prison system and is placing many innocent people in a bureaucratic limbo from which there is no escape.

Many thanks
P.S

Thanks to everyone who has signed up to insidedoubt, some from justice4simon and some new people, welcome!

In light of the recent convictions of Mark Dixie, and Steve Wright I reminded myself that not everyone is innocent and that thankfully, the system usually gets it right.

No-one should get away with murder and my thoughts are with the families of the victims.

Unfortunately, no man made system can be 100% safe which is what made me start a campaign 6 years ago and insidedoubt is a part of my story. Hopefully, it will keep on helping people who are campaigning and victims of miscarriages of justice.

I hope that together with the justice4simon website it gives people an insight of how miscarriages of justice happen and what you can do to get cases back in the public eye.

Please share your experience and information and add to this site.

The more people know and understand about miscarriages of justice the more support there will be for our system’s hostages.

Contact us if you need any help, remember to get your campaign linked on insidedoubt and if you want updates of your case to published, feel free to email me.

If you are campaigning against a miscarriage of justice, remember to take time out for yourself and use the support around you.

If you are interested in supporting victims of miscarriages of justice, please visit campaign’s websites (the “Innocent” website hosts a large database of cases), read up on them and sign their petitions, help spread the word.

Please also consider signing the petition for Rough Justice under “Features”.

There is always hope and you must never give up.

Thank you for your time,
Steffie
